Our history

m3béton is above all a family story. From an engineer father, Claudia quickly became passionate about design and raw materials. After her studies, she joined her brother Guylain in Vancouver, a specialist in traditional concrete, and there discovered the art of this material. At the same time, new types of concrete - known as UHPC - appeared, making the material more malleable and creative. The duo therefore decided to launch their brand of street furniture designed in this new generation of concrete. After a long journey to Calgary, the supplier Ductal grants them the first license in Canada (East side).

Official creation of the company, it was therefore necessary to find a striking name. m3béton was born from an Internet search, by chance falling on an image that made the click : a cube of concrete, with in legend the indication that there is one cubic meter of concrete per human. The idea of m3 therefore appeared, with on the one hand the universal aspect, and on the other, the scientific and precise form of the unit of measurement. For the word ‘béton’, which means concrete, Claudia and Guylain wanted to preserve their French-speaking origins, and therefore keep the accent and the French word. m3béton is the result of a click, resonating today with its easily remembered and visualized name.

Back in Montreal, lovely city of residence, it is there that the duo implements the first premises, in the district of Rosemont. After a brief move, still in Rosemont, it is now in a workshop in the heart of Sud-Ouest that welcomes our small team of 5 people. A “workshop” part, where all your orders are made with passion, and an “office” part where the designs come to life, as well as accounting and other mandatory tasks…

Beyond the family passion, the company is part of an eco-responsible and aesthetic approach. Urban furniture has for a long time been reduced to the cheapest and, inevitably, not very aesthetic, and very often not very durable. Nevertheless, the new generations of architects want to change the situation, by offering equipment that is sustainable over time and materials, and in harmony with the environment. This is the vision of m3béton, to build the antiques of the future.

The adventure continues and will continue, we hope, for many years!
